The existence of the Benevello valley has been documented as early as the year 1000. From it's transitory territory, Longobardi even up to the Saraceni, yet it was the Marquess Falletti who in the 14th century constructed a surrounding castle which then became the town. In the following centuries, the ancient fortress underwent other transformation including being the residence of the Noble family of Campania before becoming the Sisters religious congregation. At the hills summit is a road which leads towards a town wonderfully blended in colours amongst undulated lanes and is in this exact territory the native-albese writer Beppe Fenoglio set to narrate some of his famous tales.
